Ibiza Hotel connects guests with Facebook using RFID

We Are Social put this up and think this has huge potential for all kinds of events. Can see these tags incorporated into your phone at some point for you to swipe but this is a great starting point and so easy and cost effective. Here is a great example in Ibiza!

RFID tags are already used in hotels as keys but the future may be with auto check-ins and photo tagging. The Great Wolf Lodge waterpark-cum-hotel allows guests to register wristbands to their Facebook account and use the webcam equipped “Paw Posts” to link images straight to their wall.

Utilising a similar system the Ushuaia beach hotel in Ibiza encourages guests to use their bands to check-in to locations, in order to make their friends jealous. In addition to the users page, all of the information updates automatically onto the hotel’s Facebook page creating a fast moving online community.

    A Legend of Photography

Having studied photography and been particularly been interested in portraiture , it was nice to see Rankin launch a new site to showcase the unbelievable portfolio he has amassed over the years. His ability to put his subjects at ease shows in the vast array of stars who have gone to him to photograph them.

To be honest the site could have been better with the display of images is clunky and a little frustrating but the images are worth waiting for. Here's a selection, but let me know your thoughts or any great photographers you are inspired by!

    New by the Urban Alliance

With art having embraced Banksy and his take on urban art we have seen everyone jumping on the bandwagon and giving it that modern stencil graffiti look. It has meant a debate on how we change urban spaces and use the space as a canvas. But we are now in a digital age, and this concept has been embraced in the city centres by advertisers but what advances have we made with the subways and alleyways?

Here is hopefully the answer to our prayers? Media architecture collective Urban Alliance has recently finished the Moodwall: a 24 meter long interactive light installation in Amsterdam.

The Moodwall is situated in a pedestrian tunnel and interacts with people passing by, improving the atmosphere in the tunnel and making people happy and feel less unsafe, something which is a problem in our cities at night in the UK.

    iPhone Cover

Since I got my iPhone it has been a revellation. Only Apple can design products that you only know you need when they say so. Anyway my white cover is getting a little scratched up and looking in to gettting a cover and came across this nice illustration by Loworks of Japan. Check it out.

    Pillow talk

My friend Jamie at work found these and thought there interesting. Nice to see these digital icons don't just look good online. These are the height of interior design for us geeks who spend far too long spending time stairing at a computer screen, and then want to get home and stare at some more.
